Salmon Technical Team to Hold Work Sessions; Public Hearings to be Held

January through April, 2008

Salmon Technical Team Work Sessions

The Pacific Fishery Management Council's (Council) Salmon Technical Team (STT) will hold two work sessions.

January 22-25, 2008:  The STT will meet at the Council office in a public work session to draft “Review of 2007 Ocean Salmon Fisheries” and to consider any other estimation or methodology issues pertinent to the 2008 ocean salmon fisheries.

February 19-22, 2008:  The STT will meet at the Council office in a public work session to draft “Preseason Report I-Stock Abundance Analysis for 2008 Ocean Salmon Fisheries” and to consider any other estimation or methodology issues pertinent to the 2008 ocean salmon fisheries.

The two STT work sessions will be held at the following location:

Public hearings will be held to receive comments on the proposed ocean salmon fishery management options adopted by the Council. Please note, that at this time the exact dates for the March and April Council meetings have not been determined, please check back and visit the Council's Current Events webpage for updates. March Council Meeting (Adopt 2008 Salmon Management Options for Public Review)

March 8-14, 2008:  Council and advisory entities will meet at the DoubleTree Hotel Sacramento, 2001 Point West Way, Sacramento, California; Phone: 916-929-8855, to adopt the 2008 salmon management options for public review.

Public Hearings

March 31-April 1, 2008:  Public hearings will be held to receive comments on the proposed ocean salmon fishery management options adopted by the Council. All public hearings begin at 7  pm on the dates and at the locations specified below.

April Council Meeting (Adopt 2008 Salmon Management Measures)

April 6-12, 2008:  Council and advisory entities will meet at the Seattle Airport Marriott, 3201 S. 176th Street, Seattle, Washington; Phone: 206-241-2000, to adopt 2008 management measures for implementation by the National Marine Fisheries Service.

April 8, 2008:  Testimony on the management options will be taken during the Council meeting at the Seattle Airport Marriott, 3201 S. 176th Street, Seattle, Washington; Phone: 206-241-2000.
